How we protect you How to protect yourself

Online Security

Bank online with confidence. MCB uses advanced technology to help protect you from fraud.

Protection of your information
MCB uses the following techniques to safeguard your information when you bank online:

  • 128-Bit encryption - When you access your accounts and perform transactions on online banking, your information is protected by 128-bit encryption.
  • Additional Authentication - When you logon to MCB’s online banking, no matter if you use a desktop computer or mobile device, we always ask you for additional authentication, like an e-Pass, Digital Certificate, Soft or Hard Token.
  • Last Logon date/time - Every time you logon to online banking, we display the date and time of your last visit. If you didn't logon on then, you'll know if there has been unauthorized account access.
  • Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate - The green address bar on MCB’s online banking sites* is a security feature supported by newer browsers and means that that communication between your browser and website is encrypted and that the certification authority has confirmed the website is owned or operated by a business that is legally organized under the jurisdiction shown in the certificate and on the Security Status bar.
  • Secure firewalls - The computer servers that run MCB sites are protected by numerous firewalls to help prevent unauthorized access to our network, and MCB monitors these firewalls to prevent security breaches.
  • Session Timeouts - If you logged on to online banking but stay inactive for some time, your session will "time out." To resume online banking, you'll need to logon again.

* MCBDirect Corporate will be migrated to EV SSL during the coming months.

Mobile Security

When using MCB Mobile, your information is protected by the following security measures.

Protection of your information

  • When you use MCB Mobile, your accounts are protected by 128-bit encryption, just as they are when you bank online.
  • You logon to MCB Mobile with the same User ID and Password you use to access your accounts on online banking.
  • When you logon to MCB Mobile, we always ask you for additional authentication, like an e-Pass.
  • MCB Mobile doesn't store personal account information on mobile devices, so your accounts are not exposed if your phone is lost or stolen.

Safely downloading the Mobile App
MCB only offers its Mobile Apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play. When downloading the MCB Mobile app to your mobile device, be sure to go only download from one of these trusted market places, rather than a third-party source.
Also, look at the developer of any apps you download. MCB will not direct you to download apps that are not developed by MCB.
Do not root or jailbreak your mobile device to get around limitations set by your carrier or device manufacturer. It will remove any protections built into the device to defend against mobile threats.
